NEWS: ShySpeaks & the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders's = Why Not Cheer

In honor of Black History Month 2024, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) launched “Why Not Cheer”—a powerful creative project celebrating unity and the rhythm of shared history.

For this special initiative, the DCC collaborated with Dallas-native spoken word artist ShySpeaks, who wrote and performed the custom spoken word + rap + musical composition (with her long-time engineer/producer, Antone Amalbert) that became the heartbeat of the performance.

The performance video featured the Cheerleaders dancing to the track while highlighting ShySpeaks’ presence on-screen, underscoring the deep connection between the words, music, and movement.

Behind the Music

Shortly after the release, ShySpeaks shared a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Why Not Cheer.” In the vlog with her producer, she walked fans through how the song came together—from the writing process to recording in the studio.

Community Impact

As part of this Black History Month celebration, the DCC also connected with the DeSoto Eaglettes and their Director, DCC legend Regina Tucker. Students from both the DeSoto Middle & High School Dance Departments participated in a prep class that brought professional inspiration to young dancers, building a bond between the organizations.

This collaboration between the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and ShySpeaks stands as a vibrant reminder of how music, movement, and storytelling can come together to honor culture, inspire communities, and celebrate history.
